Stratum was built from the inside — by clinicians who have worked in hospitals, managed traveling nurses, and lived through both sides of the staffing problem.
Our founding team has direct experience in clinical nursing and nursing management — not just recruiting. We've built schedules, managed on-call rotations, onboarded travelers, and dealt firsthand with placements that didn't work. That experience informs every part of how we operate.
When a nurse is being evaluated for a placement, it's a clinician with real hospital management experience making the call — not a recruiter reading a checklist. We know what a ready nurse looks like and what a liability looks like, because we've hired both.
We don't fill holes with warm bodies. Every placement starts with understanding the unit environment — the workflow, the team dynamics, the clinical demands — so we're matching to something real, not just a job title.

The name comes from geology — strata, the layers of rock that form slowly, under pressure, into something that lasts. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
